Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Radcliff ran for a 4-yard touchdown with 2:47 remaining in the fourth quarter to lift 24th-ranked Louisville to a 44-40 win over Kentucky on Saturday. Kyle Bolin threw three touchdown passes to DeVante Parker in relief of injured Cardinals quarterback Reggie Bonnafon. Bolin finished with 381 yards and one interception on 21-of-31 passing for Louisville (9-3), which posted its fourth straight win over Kentucky (5-7). The fourth quarter was a little bit wild but we found a way to win, said Louisville coach Bobby Petrino. Thats the important thing. Im really proud of Kyle Bolin, to come in that situation and work hard and complete passes and compete. I think thats one of the things you could really see is how hard he was competing. Stanley Williams rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries for the Wildcats, who ended the season on a six-game skid to miss out on a bowl game. Obviously I am very disappointed in the outcome of this game. Disappointed for our seniors to come up short in such an important game for us, said Kentucky coach Mark Stoops. I was proud of how our team fought. We played with great energy, great passion, and we really did a lot of great things. Give Louisville credit. They made plays when they had to, to win the football game and they beat us. Patrick Towles completed 14-of-29 passes for 176 yards and threw two interceptions, the second pick sealing Kentuckys fate. Parker ended Louisvilles first drive of the second half with a 33-yard TD grab, but Kentucky scored 13 straight points to go up 33-28. Austin MacGinnis kicked a 40-yard field goal following a Michael Dyer fumble late in the third quarter, then made a 27-yarder with 9:48 to play. Alvin Dupree, who forced the Dyer fumble, stripped Bolin on the second play of the next Louisville drive. Mike Douglas made the recovery and scored on a 30- yard return. Bolin came back with a 45-yard TD pass to Parker, and an unsuccessful 2-point try left the score 34-33 in favor of the Cardinals. John Wallace kicked a 36-yard field goal following a Towles interception to make it 37-33 with 6:30 left. However, Kentucky went back on top 59 seconds later. Towles threw passes of 50 and 11 yards to set up Williams 14-yard TD run. Radcliff then capped off a seven-play, 81-yard drive before Gerod Holliman picked off Towles 4th-down pass to seal the win. A.J. Stamps picked off Bonnafons deep pass on the second Louisville drive, and 43-yard run by Williams helped set up a 22-yard MacGinnis field goal. MacGinnis drilled a 45-yarder to cap the next Kentucky possession, and the Wildcats got the ball back in excellent field position following a big play on special teams. Javess Blue blocked a punt, then made a first down-saving tackle on the punter Ryan Johnson, who scooped up the ball. Williams scored on an 11-yard run to give Kentucky a 13-0 lead early in the second quarter. The Cardinals battled back to go up 14-13. Bonnafon suffered a left knee injury on a second-down run during the subsequent Louisville drive. Bolin threw a 10-yard pass to Eli Rogers to convert a 3rd-and-7, then hooked up with Parker for a 45-yard touchdown on the next play. The Cardinals moved ahead on a 3-yard touchdown run by Dyer, but Fred Tiller picked off Bolin and his 40-yard return put Kentucky back on top at 20-14 with 3:30 remaining in the second. However, Radcliff got in on the third try from the 1 to send Louisville into halftime with a 21-20 lead. Game Notes The Wildcats havent beaten a ranked team on the road since a 22-17 win over these same Cardinals on Sept. 1, 2002 ... Parker finished with 180 yards on six catches ... Radcliff had 67 yards on 21 carries. Willie Roaf Jersey . Ive said it before, Ive worked with top pros and I could have made my own program. For a few minutes, that is. Popovichs first order of business after the seasons final buzzer sounded in Miami was to go and embrace Erik Spoelstra, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, giving everyone hearty hugs and offering genuine words of congratulations after the Heat topped his Spurs in Game 7 of one of the most dramatic, thrilling championship series in league history. The pain of losing started setting in later, and lasted for months. But now, the dream scenario for San Antonio has arrived. Starting Thursday, the Spurs get a rematch in the NBA Finals against the only team to ever beat them in a championship series. San Antonio will be holding home-court advantage, so if another Game 7 awaits, the Spurs will have the decided edge this time around. If that wasnt enough, the Spurs even got basically five full days between games to get healthy and prepare. It is, without question, everything the Spurs could have wanted. "We know what were going against," said Spurs guard Tony Parker, who added that he has great respect for what the Heat have done in this four-year run. "Its a great challenge." There are so many things that would seem like a distinct San Antonio advantage right now. First, while everyones better at home, the Spurs dominate in San Antonio, winning 103 times in their last 123 games there. Over the past four seasons, the Spurs are also 25-5 when having three or more days between games. Maybe most importantly, having nearly a week between the end of the Western Conference finals and the start of the NBA Finals gives Parker plenty of time to get his ailing left ankle ready to go for Game 1. "Ill do my best," said Parker, who didnt practice Tuesday but is hoping to play in the series opener, as the Heat expect he will. This is San Antonios sixth trip to the NBA Finals. The Spurs won it all in 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2007, the last title in that run coming when San Antonio swept a Cleveland team that featured a young LeBron James making his debut on the leagues biggest stage. James is no finals apprentice anymore. Hes been to the title round three times since, winning the last ttwo.dddddddddddd And James is quick to point out that the Spurs arent the only team fueled by hunger in this championship round. "Both teams have motivating factors," James said. "They have a motivating factor. We have our own." Losing the finals is one thing. Losing the way the Spurs did last June, thats something else. Forget Game 7 for a moment. Game 6 will be replayed for as long as there are replays, unforgettable for both how the Heat rallied and how the Spurs collapsed. A 10-point lead going into the fourth quarter was erased, in part because Mike Miller scored three points on one shot while wearing one shoe. And a five-point lead with 28.2 seconds left, well, you know the rest. Manu Ginobili misses a free throw. James makes a 3-pointer. Kawhi Leonard makes one of two free throws. James misses a 3-pointer. Chris Bosh out jumps Ginobili for the rebound. Ray Allen started backpedaling to the right corner, hoping for a chance. ABCs Mike Breen described what happened next like this: "Rebound Bosh ... back out to Allen ... his 3-pointer ... BANG!!! Tie game!" The Heat went on to win in overtime that night, then found a way to win Game 7 and the title, 95-88. When this season began, Popovich started camp by showing his team Games 6 and 7, painful as it was. "I try to learn something every game I watch," Popovich said. "Thats what we do." And while there were plenty of teams that looked like contenders this season, neither club was surprised that the end result is the first NBA Finals rematch since 1998. "We got wined and dined with some of the other teams that kind of popped up and showed greatness throughout the year," Allen said. "The Clippers looked great. OKC, they had their issues and then they popped up. Memphis looked good at the end of the year. Indiana was always hovering. But if you go back to the beginning of the year, most people said the same thing. Pop knew how to manage his team to get to this point. Same thing with us." In other words, maybe Spurs-Heat II was meant to be. "It was," Allen said. ___ Associated Press Writer Raul Dominguez in San Antonio contributed to this story ' ' '
